This is the site of the Liverpool City Region Freeport Watch group. The group is comprised of academics, local activists and concerned people everywhere. The Liverpool City Region stretches for 45 kilometres from the southern side of the Mersey through to St Helens and Salford.
In recent months our government has created 74 Special Enterprise Zones and 12 Freeports without any discussion of what this means. Inside these zones there will be a relaxing of planning and labour laws, which will mean a lowering of living standards and a strengthening of unaccountable corporate theft for everyone living in them.
This group will concentrate on Liverpool, but there are others around the country that we will be working with.
